Teachers’ working morale is a very important factor that influences organization’s goal achievements. Working morale can be categorized into two dimensions; high working morale and low working morale. Teachers with high working morale will promote/support a positive way to the school organization. He/She will influence organization’s goal achievements. He/She motivates others so that the people in the school have one same vision in achieving the organization’s goal. Otherwise, low teachers’ working morale will bring the school into collapse or at least, in status-quo and off course cannot achieve the goal. Teachers’ morale could be influenced by many factors either it is on high or low morale.
The aims of this research are to find out: (1) the influence of Principals’ leadership to teachers’ working morale; (2) the influence of teachers’ motivation to teachers’ working morale; (3) the influence of school climate to the teachers’ working morale; and (4) the influence of Principals’ leadership, teachers’ motivation, and school climate to the teachers’ working morale.
In this study, a correlational quantitative method is conducted. This study is trying to explain if there were any contribution of the independent variables to dependent variable based on coefficient of correlation. Since there are three independent variables and one dependent variable, a multivariate technique is used. This study is trying to find out the contribution of Principals’ leadership, teachers’ motivation, and school climate to teachers’ working morale. There are 130 person whom population of this study. A proportional sample random technique is used to pick up 109 respondents. The instrument of the data collector is questionnaire. In this study, Principals’ leadership style will be parted into two; Principal’s leadership style orientation on initiating structure and on consideration. Motivation also has two dimensions, extrinsic and intrinsic. The last variable, school climate is focused on supportive, collegial, intimate, directive, restrictive, and disengaged.
This study finds out that the Principal’s leadership style are in good category (77.82%), teachers’ motivation are in good category (75.12%), school climate is in good enough category (66.47%), and teachers’ morale are in good category (71.71%). Based on the data and calculation with SPSS 17, here are the result of the study: (1) Principals’ leadership style have not influenced teachers’ morale, it just only has 0,4% of contribution; (2) teachers’ motivation have influenced positively and significantly teachers’ morale by 10.6%; (3) school climate has influenced positively and significantly teachers’ morale by 21.2%; and (4) Principal’s leadership style, teachers’ motivation, and school climate altogether have positively and significantly influenced teachers’ morale by 36.4%. Another 63.6% that influenced morale come from factors which are not studied in this research.
Teoretically, the implications of this study will help to improve educational human resources in order to create qualified and high spirit human resources. Practically, the implications are to motivate teachers in every way such as giving incentives; creating a condusive school climate; and improving a strong and good Principal’s leadership folowing by improving another morale’s backing up factors. There are few thing to do dealing with this result of the study: (1) even though uneffected partially, Principal’s leadership style should be improved in order to see the influence to teachers’ morale; (2) need to combine leadership style with another factors such as motivastion and school climate; (3) need to improve teachers’ motivation by creating a good and solid teamwork; (4) need to improve school climate which in this study had a stronger and bigger influence to teachers’ morale; (5) need to pay attantion on factors which were not be studied, because according to the calculation, those factors had influenced techers’ morale by 63.6%.
